Mel (Tulloch) Botembe, MBA, LSSMBB (She/Her)
BTG CLIENT DELIVERY LEAD
Born and raised in Ottawa to Jamaican parents, Mel spent her high-school years focusing on academics, sports and extracurricular activities; while learning from her entrepreneurial father and service-oriented mother who emphasized education, service, and who led by example. Mel’s credentials include a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University, an MBA from Howard University, a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University, and a Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt certification.
A business advisor with 17+ years of North American experience, Mel has led numerous organizations on their journey towards operational excellence. She has worked across a dozen industries and functions for companies such as RBC, PwC, and Stryker amongst many others. She’s a proven leader in executing improvement initiatives focused on people, process and technology, and delivering bottom line cost savings.
Mel is passionate about people and leadership development. She has trained and coached thousands of employees at all levels in the organization. The results are more efficient and effective operations and empowered and productive people.
A results and data-driven leader, Mel loves a challenge, embraces change, and is dedicated to the pursuit of excellence. When she is not solving complex business problems you will find her spending time with her family and teaching fitness classes in the community.

J.R. Botembe, MBA, LSSGB (He/Him)
BTG OPERATIONS LEAD
Born in the Democratic Republic of Congo, J.R. immigrated to Canada with his family as an early teen, and spent the latter half of his teenage years growing up in Toronto. He then moved to Ottawa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and eventually a Master of Business Administration from the Telfer School of Business.
Throughout his career, J.R. has gained valuable cybersecurity and IT operations experience in multiple industries such as utilities, higher education, oil and gas, and banking. Notable large companies that he has worked for include TD Bank, Suncor, IBM, and Capgemini. With 20 years of industry and consulting experience in IT operations, cybersecurity operations, and control systems engineering, he understands what it takes to lead and be part of inclusive service operations teams where every individual brings their best.
J.R. is passionate about developing people and creating the conditions where team members can excel and reach their potential. He is a relationship builder with demonstrated ability to build effective relationships with diverse stakeholders across multiple functions. He’s known best for problem-solving and synthesizing complex technical concepts into simple and clear summaries that resonate with end-users and C-suite executives.
After having worked across Canada in cities such as Calgary, Fort Mac, Ottawa, Montreal and Toronto, J.R. settled with his family in the GTA. In his spare time he enjoys biking, basketball, snowboarding, and spending time with family and friends.
